The proposed construction of a waste sorting plant in Wied Garnaw, in the limits of Gudja, should not be allowed, Graffitti insists.

Referring to a meeting to be held today by Mepa's Development Control Commission to decide on the project, Graffitti said Wied Garnaw was characterised by illegal development, leading to its gradual destruction, even though it lay outside the development zone.

The valley was designated as protected zone of agricultural and ecological value in Mepa's draft South Malta Local Plan, the group said.
