Andre Schembri has put pen to paper on an extended contract at Ferencvaros FC that will keep the Maltese midfielder at the Hungarian top division club until the end of the 2010-11 season.

Schembri, 24, became the club's second Maltese signing in quick succession, when he teamed up with compatriot Justin Haber. The Malta goalkeeper, recently transferred from partner club Sheffield United, also signed a contract with Fradi for next season.

Since Schembri's move from SK Austria Kärnten, he has established himself as an important member of the Ferencvaros squad.

As his fitness levels increased, he started to make a significant impact during the second half of Fradi's spring campaign.

Schembri's attacking style and his man-of-the-match performance against Diosgyor FC has seen him quickly become a fans favourite.

Schembri said: "I am so pleased to be offered this new contract as I'm really enjoying my time here.

"It is a great experience for me to play at this magnificent club alongside some very talented players. The relationship I enjoy with our fans has made it even more special."
