Two scholarship schemes partly funded by the EU were launched today by Education Minister Dolores Cristina.
They are STEPS – Strategic Educational Pathways Scholarships, and CGCB – Career Guidance Capacity Building.
The minister explained that STEPS will be offered between 2009 and 2013 and is open for all those who hold a first degree and wish to continue for a masters or a doctorate.
This scholarship scheme, she said, would aim to further strengthen the educational system, address shortages of expertise in the economy and encourage research.
The scholarships will cover university fees, bench fees and a maintenance grants, and there are also allowances for those who are married and have children.
The second scholarship scheme is focussed on career guidance and 42 people will be able to achieve a Masters in Career Guidance.
