The choir of St Edmund's Catholic School, Portsmouth, England will be visiting Malta for the seventh time at the end of May, to perform two concerts of sacred music.

The choir is composed of 62 young people and members of staff.

The wide variety of music to be performed includes works by the English Tudor composer, Thomas Tallis, J.S. Bach, and Giuseppe Verdi, along with modern compositions by John Rutter and Dion Buhagiar and original works and settings of Negro spirituals. Also taking part will be David Thorne, Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, and the young Maltese flautist Robert Calleja.

The tour to Malta in 2003 is part of the school's 40th anniversary celebrations.

The concerts will be performed in the Collegiate Church of St Lawrence, Vittoriosa on May 27 and in St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta on May 29.

Both concerts commence at 7.30 p.m. and admission is free.
