The Association of School Councils is for the first time organising a national rally to invite state school parents to play a greater role in their children's education.
Association founder Francis Borg said the invitation had been issued to the councils of around 200 schools which had in turn been asked to inform all parents.
The meeting, which will be held tomorrow at the Catholic Institute in Floriana between 9.30 and 11.30 a.m., is also intended to encourage parents to vote in the upcoming council elections on January 24.
"We want parents to give up their apathy and adopt a more active role by working hand-in-hand with the schools to provide a better future for their children," Mr Borg said.
"Parents know their children best, while teachers are the educational leaders. We want to create the synergy necessary to have more quality schools."
The association, which has organised several conferences before, is a voluntary organisation which works with the councils of state schools.
"Parents should be more involved in the drawing up of national school policies and school development plans," Mr Borg said.
Mr Borg appealed to all the parents to attend tomorrow's meeting to discuss their experiences and make their voice heard.
