The Department of education spends nearly Lm7,000 every day on school transport, Education Minister Louis Galea said in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday.

He said contracts had been awarded to the Unscheduled Bus Service, the Public Transport Association and the Mini Buses Association.

The minister, who was replying to a parliamentary question by Mr Carmelo Abela (MLP), said 737 school bus routes are operated every school day.
