The St Andrew Society of Malta marked Scotland's National Day with a dinner at the Corinthia San Ġorġ Hotel. The distinguished guests, who included British High Commissioner Nick Archer and Mrs Archer, Mr and Mrs Baekelandt, Marquis and Marchioness de Piro and the society's patron, Prof. J.J. Cremona, were greeted to the top table by piper M. Farrugia.

The society's president, Mrs H. MacLachlan, welcomed members and guests, grace was said by Rev. C. Westmarland and a sumptuous dinner was enjoyed by all.

After dinner, loyal toasts were proposed and Mr Archer read the St Andrew's Day message from Scotland's First Minister. Hazel Anderson then welcomed the guests and was replied to by Marquis de Piro, who delighted the company with his amusing attempts to find common ground between the Scots and the Maltese and his hilarious ballad of Rory Muscat.
