The first round of the Challenge Cup came to an end on Sunday with the game between Pasta Poiatti Qormi and The George Pub. Thanks to a goal 15 minutes from the final whistle Pasta Poiatti became the fourth and final team to qualify for the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.
All in all it was a deserved victory as the Qormi side, barring ten to 15 minutes in the second half, were the better side. In the first half Pasta Poiatti squandered numerous chances and saw Galea pulling off two good saves from Seychell and Bartolo.
Qormi somewhat lost their rhythm at the start of the second half and Pembroke penned them into their half but despite a number of short corners they did not break the deadlock.
Instead it was Pasta Poiatti who scored the all-important goal on 20 minutes through Micallef after Galea had initially saved off Grima.
Pasta Poiatti will now play Rabat Depiro in the first semi-final on Sunday at 9 a.m. Young Stars and Athlete's Foot will square off at 10.30 a.m.
