Security men

I refer to the letter by Joseph Zammit of Msida (Security Men At St George's Bay, August 8).

G4S has been offering beach security services, including St George's Bay, for a number of years, and in the process has acquired a thorough knowledge of the trends of behaviour prevalent during the summer months in the area.

We routinely deploy seasoned security officers who are familiar with beach security and with what can be expected of merry-makers, especially during the early hours.

In addition, in order to ensure an element of continuity, security officers are always deployed from the same pool of personnel who operate in such sites.

G4S offers its services in order that a safe and secure environment can be maintained for the enjoyment of beach-goers, whether this relates to protection of self or property. To this effect, we must state that Mr Zammit is not a company spokesperson, a representative of the employees or otherwise employed within the management structure of the company, and apart from the fact that he has never worked with our company on this assignment, his opinion should not be taken to be G4S's official position on the matter.

Without prejudice to Mr Zammit's freedom of expression, G4S Security Services (Malta) Ltd wishes to disassociate itself from the contents of his reply, as apart from the fact that it is purely subjective, it does not in anyway reflect the opinion of our company, nor our international operating standards.
