Art Box has been promoting modern art under various forms for the last year.
Besides viewing various works of art, the public will have the opportunity to meet eight artists while they are actually creating their art and discuss their techniques. These are the artists.
Tanja Van Poucke studied art at the St Lucas Institute in Ghent and at the Royal Academy of Art in Antwerp and since 1985 has exhibited her works in numerous exhibitions and shows both on her own and together with other artists.
George Scicluna creates works of intensity, power and vigour. He trained at Perugia in Italy and expresses himself in a brand of romantic expressionism.
Ivan C. Rodger from Norfolk in the UK is self-taught and works mainly in oil with brush and palette knife. His style can be defined as realist, semi-impressionist and semi-abstract. He has exhibited his works at various local and international locations.
Barbara Attard Pettet studied art at the Upper Secondary School in Valletta and took pottery, ceramic and stained glass classes. She has exhibited extensively and last year won a prize in the National Annual Art Competition and Exhibition organised by the Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.
Rosella Schembri has attended various workshops with ceramists of international stature in Wales and England. She has exhibited her works at various local exhibitions as well as several ceramic festivals abroad.
Greta Van Doorneveldt has exhibited her works abroad and keeps a permanent exhibition of her works at her studio in her residence in Aalter in Belgium.
Hermine Anna Sammut grew up in Vienna and qualified as a teacher. She has attended courses such as paper making, air brush, folk art and decorative painting, silk painting and stained glass. These days she teaches craft courses to locals and foreigners.
Hilde Verbeke studied photography in Antwerp, Belgium, and has worked as exclusive photographer of interior and exterior design for various fashion periodicals.
