Selmun Hill closed to traffic after collision

Two persons hospitalised

Last updated 6.25pm - The road has been reopened for traffic.

Selmun Hill was closed to traffic both ways for much of Sunday afternoon after a head-on crash.

The accident happened at around 3.45 and involved a Nissan March driven by a 79-year-old woman from Mellieħa and a Renault Traffic van driven by a 52-year-old man from Tarxien.

Both motorists were hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.

The police are investigating.

Traffic was diverted through Mizieb and Manikata. Part of Selmun Hill was reopened for traffic at 5pm and fully reopened an hour later.

The Mizieb road also featured a collision earlier in the afternoon when a VW Scirocco crashed into a wall, bringing traffic in the area to a crawl.
