As Malta prepares to join the European Union on May 1, the Institute of Financial Services, Malta, is organising a series of seminars on the major impact of accession on the financial services sector and the persons who work within the sector.
To facilitate the understanding of the new scenario we shall be operating in, these seminars will highlight those aspects that will mostly be affected by EU membership. The seminars will be held on four consecutive Tuesdays starting on March 2 at the Malta Stock Exchange at 5.30 p.m.
The following topics will be dealt with:
¤ March 2: Freedom of movement of persons related to financial services (Dr Hubert Dalli, Associate, Ganado Sammut Advocates)
¤ March 9: Freedom of movement of capital and the impact on the Maltese economy (Gordon Cordina, Lecturer, Economics Department, University of Malta)
¤ March 16: Freedom of movement of services related to financial services (Dr Gabriella Pace, Head, Malta-EU help desk, Malta Business Bureau)
¤ March 23: Economic and monetary union (Theresa Cutajar)
Each session will include a short discussion after each speaker's presentation.
