Senior citizens have their say on White Rocks national park plan

Project Green urges people to take part in public consultations about national parks

Senior citizens want the White Rocks national park to be fully accessible to those with impaired mobility and for the site to incorporate a designated dog area.

The proposals were among ideas raised during a public consultation session led by Environment Minister Miriam Dalli and the Project Green team this week.

Another idea raised during the session included making the park accessible by sea transport.

Consultations about how to shape the park and two others planned for Manoel Island and Fort Campbell are in full flow, with Project Green having consulted young people, architecture students, and local councils in recent weeks.

All three national park projects were announced by the government last year.

“We want to listen to everyone’s ideas. Today we met with senior citizens who shared many interesting ideas with us. They also shared memories going back to when these areas were used as British barracks. I encourage everyone to be part of this process so that these parks are truly for the people,” the minister said.

Project Green COO Beverley Cost said the agency wants everyone to have their say in how these parks are designed.

Anyone interested in contributing can send their ideas to Project Green online.
