Seven new educational scholarships worth €8 million launched
Schemes cover range of academic courses and disciplines
Students are being offered the opportunity to participate in seven new scholarship schemes launched on Friday worth a total of around €8 million.
Education Minister Clifton Grima said the latest scholarships brings the total investment up to €44 million.
“We believe that strong investment in the education sector and in students guarantees success for them, for society, and for our country,” he said.
The latest scholarships are: the Endeavour II Scholarship Scheme; the TESS Scholarship Scheme; the Arts Scholarship Scheme; the Sports Scholarship Scheme; Achieve 360; Reach High II; and Live the Language.
Minister for European Funds Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi said schemes such as Endeavour II and Reach High II, which are co-financed by European funds, are directly supporting studies at higher levels, including Master’s degrees and postdoctoral research.
Since the launch of the Endeavour II scheme, four calls have been issued with a total investment of €4.8 million from European funds, while this year a further €1.5 million has been allocated for the fifth call.
“This is a concrete investment that continues to strengthen skills, research, and the country’s competitiveness, as it is leading to more skills locally,” Zrinzo Azzopardi said.
The scholarship schemes cover courses of study at recognised institutions, ranging from training programmes to postdoctoral studies. Some schemes focus on academic courses, while others specialise in the arts and sports.
The new rules and online applications can be found on the My Scholarship website.
