A pure-breed Yorkshire terrier was abandoned in Qawra but not before the owner tried to make sure that the dog he had cared for - but probably could no longer keep - would continue to receive vaccinations against disease.

So he put the one-year-old terrier's vaccination card in a plastic bag and hung it around its neck.

The card, which records the vaccinations and boosters given to the dog, was issued by Blue Cross Veterinary Clinic of Birkirkara. It also bears the dog's registration, 0028527, and its name - Shaggy.

A man from Qormi who noticed the dog with the plastic bag hanging around its neck informed Alfred Fenech of the Abandoned Animals Association, who is now trying to home it.

The dog is very clean and docile.

Mr Fenech can be contacted on 7929 7830 or 9946 4888.

Mr Fenech also said that the Husky found at Manikata last week has been homed. The AAA received more than 100 enquiries about the dog.
