On Saturday, Marsa CC took on touring team Punters XI from London. Punters won the toss and elected to field.

In the very first over Coombs struck having Ali caught in the slips for naught. Punters' decision to field at first seemed to be a good one.

Ronnie Sacco joined Robert Krishna at the crease and they both tried to steady the innings.

But, Sacco was next to go out, caught at point off the bowling of Coombs for 18 runs. Krishna was bowled for 29 by Munro.

Next came the innings which changed the face of the game and destroyed Punters' bowling.

Javed Shah smashed all the bowlers to all parts of the field, hitting an impressive 12 4s in his 69 runs off 37 balls. He retired hurt with a stretched hamstring.

Sam Dhandapani also faced 37 balls before he, too, retired making 55 runs including seven 4s. Caruana (19), Naudi (21) and Wheeler (16) added weight to the score.

Marsa managed a big total of 261 runs off the 35 overs faced. For Punters, Coombs was their successful bowler, taking two wickets.

Punters' ambition to make the required runs put them into all sorts of trouble and were bowled out for 51 runs.

Sacco opened the bowling and took two wickets.

Dhandapani bowled with great swing as he also took two wickets while Caruana took three in two overs.

Alan Kyle took a wicket but the most impressive bowler was Wheeler. He claimed the last two wickets from only eight balls bowled.

For Punters, only one batsman made it to double figures and that was Porter with 19 runs.

The last game of the Yellow Pages Challenge on Saturday, between Marsa and Krishna, will start at 11.30 a.m.
