Shelters over Hagar Qim and Mnajdra will be erected by the middle of next
year, followed by a visitors' centre by the end of the summer, Tourism and
Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said this evening.
He was speaking as he welcomed 12 hotels into the HSBC Cares for Malta's
Heritage Fund, which raises money for various cultural sites.
The fund, set up in conjunction with Heritage Malta, was launched last
year and to date had featured six hotels.
Guests at the member hotels are urged to contribute a euro for every night
of their stay.
Five of the new member hotels are collecting money for the Maritime
Museum, two for the Inquisitors' Palace, two for the Domus Romana u one
for St Paul Catacombs.
The original six hotels have been collecting money for the Hypogeum, Hagar
Qim and Mnajdra, St Paul Catacombs and the Museum of Natural History.
