Not for the first time this year, all eyes at the arrivals' lounge of the Malta International Airport were on local shooter William Chetcuti. The 20-year-old Chetcuti yesterday received yet another warm welcome from the members of the Maltese shooting fraternity after winning gold in the Grand Prix International Europe for Juniors held in Italy last weekend.
Chetcuti, winner of a silver medal in a World Cup shoot in Belgrade a few months ago, topped the Double Trap ladder with 173 clays, 19 ahead of his nearest rival.
Positive results were also registered by two other young Maltese skeet shooters in Italy. Darren Vella placed second with 86 points and Clive Farrugia was fourth on 77 points. Farrugia received a medal as the best young foreign shooter in skeet.
