A Sicilian man has been sentenced to jail for the second time for stalking his former lover.

Massimo Tivisini, 41, just served 30 months for harassing the woman with whom he had broken up in 2008. But the court heard that his behaviour had resumed after his release and sentenced him to a further 40 months.

During his arraignment on December 30 last year, Magistrate Charmaine Galea was told that Mr Tivisini’s harassment had resumed in August, after his release from prison.

Police inspector Roderick Agius told the court that Mr Tivisini would turn up wherever the woman went and would spend hours loitering outside her home, on some occasions throwing pebbles at the windows.

Magistrate Galea said such persistent behaviour was unacceptable and ordered that he continue receiving psychological and psychiatric treatment during his time in jail. Lawyer Noel Cutajar appeared for the man.
