A 33-year-old man was grievously injured this evening when he fell down the shaft of a private residence in Siggiewi, the police said.

The incident happened in Dun Manwel Zammit Street at about 9 p.m.

The man, from Siggiewi, was rescued by officers from the Civil Protection Department and rushed to hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.

The police are investigating.
