Sirens FC have signed nine players from Ghana premier league champions Medeama FC, in an unprecedented mass transfer.

“We are delighted to announce the transfer of nine of our players to Maltese Premier League side Sirens FC,” the Ghana champions said in a statement.

Defenders Daniel Opoku and Moro Muktar, midfielders Kwasi Donsu and Prosper Owusu Boakye, winger Akadom Mohammed Hafiz and forwards Charles Agyemang, Frank Boateng, Joshua Agyemang and Bismark Asare have all agreed to join the Maltese Premier League side.

Medeama said Donsu, Boateng and Agyemang would be loaned to Sirens FC for a one-year period, with the other six players signing permanent contracts with the Maltese team.

Six of those players formed part of the Medeama FC team that won the 2022-23 Ghana Premier League title with a five-point margin - the first league title in the club's history.

The new signings are already in Malta and on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to Ghana’s ambassador to Malta, Barbara Akuokor Benisa.

Sirens FC have yet to comment on the transfer. The two clubs did not disclose transfer details.

According to new rules introduced this season by the Malta Premier League, top-flight clubs in Malta can sign up to 16 foreign players and register a maximum of 14. The remaining two can be sent out on loan.
