Skateboarding evening

A skateboarding evening - Subway We Love You - is being held at the Msida Subway, close to the university, by Malta Skaters United on Saturday between 4-11 p.m.

The evening will include a skateboarding competition and a number of bands offering a variety of music.

Malta Skaters United is a recently formed group of skaters who are working to get the Msida university roundabout transformed into a skate park.

One of the organisation's aims is to educate people about skateboarding and it believes that a skate park would help people understand the sport better.

Skateboarding could also be beneficial for youngsters coming from difficult backgrounds as it was a good way to help them channel their energy into something positive, the group believes.

The group would also like to put up at Msida a ramp members built three years ago and which had cost them around Lm800.

The mini-ramp needs some repair but this was possible at a cost of around Lm100.
