The Sliema Band, led by Mro Ronnie Debattista, has performed in Brussels and The Hague.

Band president Tonio Portughese received decorations from representatives of the local administrations and on behalf of the European Union in recognition of the high level of the concerts.

This was the eighth overseas trip by the Sliema band in recent years.

Dr Portughese said the Brussels concerts will be specially remembered for the high musical standards achieved and also for the first-ever execution by a local band of Malta's national anthem in the Belgian capital.
