The Sliema Symphony Band conducted by Ronnie Debattista recently performed two successful concerts in the auditorium of the Casa della Gioventu in Predazzo, Trentino, and at Pampeago on the Dolomites in Val di Fiemme, Italy.
The regional authorities - namely the mayors of Predazzo and Tesero and the Federation of Trentino Bands - conferred decorations on the band for their performance.
The three soloists were Godfrey Mifsud who performed Variations su un air du pays d'oc by Louis Cahuzac on clarinet, assistant conductor Sigmund Mifsud who performed the Italian song of the 20s Ciribiribin by Pestalozza and William Debattista who played Vittorio Monti's concert for clarinet Czardas.
The Sliema band also visited Venice, Merano and Lake Garda and attended a performance of Verdi's Aida at the Arena di Verona.
