Sliema, Birkirkara kept apart in SF draw
Valletta vs Pietà in Trophy 2nd round
Sliema Wanderers and Birkirkara stayed on course to clash in the Super Five tournament final after they were kept apart in the semi-final draw held yesterday in Valletta.
Holders Sliema, who lifted the cup last year after beating Valletta in a penalty shoot-out, will face Hibs while Birkirkara were pitted against Marsaxlokk.
The two ties will be played at the Centenary Stadium on December 21 and 22. The play-off for third place and the final are pencilled for Boxing Day.
The draws of the second round of the FA Trophy were also held yesterday at the MFA headquarters with the most eye-catching tie pitting against each other Valletta and Pietà Hotspurs, both of the Premier League.
Another interesting match should be that between Division One side Hamrun Spartans and Floriana. The other Premier League side in the hat, Msida St Joseph, were drawn to play Senglea Athletic, of Division One.
Seeded teams Sliema Wanderers, Birkirkara, Marsaxlokk and Hibernians will enter the competition in the quarter-finals which will definitely feature a team from Division One after San Gwann were picked to face Mqabba in the second round.
