Sliema McDonald's will have to beat Neptunes Vodafone this afternoon to keep their chances alive of winning the Winter League for the first time in 10 years.

With one match to go, Neptunes, the holders, are currently leading the standings with maximum points from seven matches, two ahead of second-placed Sliema who only lost the league-opener to their rivals 10-8 way back in February.

Sliema and Neptunes have an almost identical scoring record in the competition with the former's percentage slightly better than that of the Reds.

However, if the Blues win the derby and the two teams finish the season with equal points, a decider will have to be played to determine a champion. If that happens, the play-off for the title will be played tomorrow with a 5.30 p.m. start.
