SLIEMA WANDERERS 2
SENGLEA ATHLETIC 0
Sliema scored either side of half-time to register a merited win over an over-cautious Senglea Athletic.
The ice was broken on the 38th minute through Jonathan Pearson.
Kilian Amehi, delivered a perfect ball - from a corner on the right – towards Pearson whose header swept past Matthew Farrugia.
The Wanderers’ clear edge was rewarded with a more convincing scoreline, early in the second half, when Marzouk scored a goal out of nothing, as he typically pounced on a loose ball and arrowed a stinging drive over substitute goalkeeper Philip Schranz.
Play remained drab in the second half with Sliema’s build-ups never coming to fruitation.
The game was overshadowed by what seemed to be a serious injury to Amehi as the French winger was carried on a stretcher and into the dressing room.
Younes Marzouk was voted the BOV player of the match.
