Eleven young people from Y4J (Youths-4-Jesus) experienced living like a billion people live around the world - in slums.

They slept rough on the Bay Street Terrace last weekend, surviving the lowest temperatures recorded this year. The young people built their own temporary 'house' out of wood and cardboard, lived on a limited diet of two portions of rice and beans daily, had a basin of cold water to wash with, prayed for change, and raised money for an orphanage in Kenya.

Archbishop Paul Cremona paid them a visit and shared a bowl of rice with them.

The youths said that throughout this experience they felt lonely, malnourished, undignified and helpless - a sensation homeless people probably experience daily.
