Smart City Malta was recently promoted at the Business Park 2008 Exhibition in New Delhi.

On its stand, Smart City, a global network of self-sustained townships for knowledge-based industries promoted Smart City Malta, which at $300 million, is the largest direct foreign investment in the ICT and media sectors in Malta. The project is expected to generate 5,600 jobs and create a total office space of 103,000 square metres.

Smart City is a joint venture company promoted by Dubai Holding members, TECOM Investments and SAMA Dubai, and developed from the successful model of Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Dubai Knowledge Village.

These entities have been successful in attracting investments from some of the largest global companies in the ICT, media and education sectors. Smart City currently has a presence in Dubai, Malta and Kochi, and more are in the pipeline.

Fareed Abdulrahman, executive director of Smart City and board member of Smart City Malta and Smart City Kochi, attended the event in Delhi. "The Business Park 2008 Exhibition provides an ideal platform for the industry," he said.

The Business Park 2008 Exhibition is the only trade show for commercial properties in India. The exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the World Federation of Free Zones which showcases the sellers (promoters of IT parks, free zones, retail malls) and the buyers (promoters of software and bio-technology companies, industrialists, facility managers, technocrats, exporters, entrepreneurs, etc.)

Smart City's participation in the exhibition is one of the initiatives taken by Smart City towards expanding business opportunities in India.
