SmartCity Malta appoints Cracknell as landscape architects

SmartCity Malta has announced the appointment of Cracknell as Landscape Architects for its development. Landscaping works include the entire SmartCity Malta site, encompassing all phases of the development.

Cracknell is a design consultancy group of landscape architects, architects and planners which has been involved in projects in the Middle East, Europe, Eastern Mediterranean, Africa, and the Far East.

Cracknell was established in London in 1987, and their Dubai office is the largest landscape and urban design practice in the Middle-eastern region. Its portfolio includes the landscape design of some of TECOM's prominent developments, including Dubai Media City, Knowledge Village, Dubai Healthcare City, and its flagship Dubai Internet City. More recently, they have been involved in the design of Burj Khalifa Parks and Open spaces.

Key landscape elements of SmartCity Malta include the entry gate and main Boulevard, urban ring road, coastal promenade, lagoon, and cascading terraces. The Streetscape and lighting scheme will further set the ambiance and enhance the built environment.

Selection of an appropriate plant palette, together with addressing soil management and irrigation techniques will ensure a healthy landscape over a long period of time," SmartCity said.
