Following a request from the Deaf People Association, the National Commission for People with a Disability (KNPD) has launched a new SMS service for hearing-impaired people. This service is meant to replace the Text Telephone service.

The aim of the service is to give people with hearing impairment full access to the services provided by the KNPD Secretariat, including enquiries about KNPD services, lodging of complaints of discrimination on account of their disability, or to make contact regarding other matters of concern to them.

The number of the service is 7978 8555. It should only be used to send text messages. Those wishing to call should use KNPD's new telephone number, 2278 8555.
