I received a letter in the post saying that I needed to collect a package from the Maltapost head office in Qormi because it had arrived from the US. Once there I found a long queue and it took me 40 minutes to get to the front, just to be told "next" and "ID card". I was amazed at the lack of customer service. I handed over the relevant information and waited 15 more minutes, only to be informed I had to move to the side to allow others to get past. It would have been helpful to be told I needed to wait for my name to be called instead of being left at the counter eagerly awaiting my parcel.
It then took a 35 more minutes to be called into the customers' room and for them to open the parcel to see that what was stated on the front was in fact in the parcel, for which I then had to pay VAT after waiting 10 more minutes.
I found the whole ordeal ridiculous and it has left me hesitant about placing any more orders from abroad. I really cannot understand why they operate with those opening times and their lack of technology and customer service. The only decent service I received was from the Customs officer who was checking my parcel.
I am sure I am not the only one who feels something drastic needs to be done to resolve this situation.
