Sapphire Wedding
Dr HERMAN FARRUGIA, B.Pharm., MD and Miss ALICE TONNA-BARTHET
The marriage took place on Sunday, October 11, 1959, at St Publius parish church, Floriana. Fr Charles Vella officiated. Happy 45th anniversary to mum and dad from Hermann and Angèle, Jean-Pierre and Roberta, Marcel, Veronique and Werner, Jean-Claude, Daniel-Luc, Veronique, Jacques, Luigi, Matthias and Miguel.
Obituary
FARRUGIA. On October 9, at St Luke's Hospital, JOSEPHINE, aged 39, of Attard passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joseph, her children Christian and Ludvic, her sisters Jane, wife of Noel, and Carmen, wife of John, her nephews, her mother-in-law Maria, her in-laws, Josephine, wife of Jimmy Ciappara, Charles and his wife Deborah, Helen and Salvu, uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 3 p.m. for Attard parish church were Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment at Mosta cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement will be appreciated.
VASSALLO. On October 9, FORTUNATA née Bondin, aged 76, at her residence in Zebbug, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Raymond and his wife Sandra, Marthese, Bernardette widow of Joseph Cini, Nathalie and Veronica, her sister Sr Miriam, Joseph Bondin of St Joseph Convent, Rabat, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral leaves her residence today at 3 p.m. for St Philip parish church, Zebbug, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at S. Cuore di Gesù Cemetery, Zebbug. No flowers by request but donations to the Moviment Missjunarju Gesù fil-Proxxmu, Gozo, will be greatly appreciated.

Dog Lost
A black and white King Charles Spaniel by the name of Oliver, and requiring daily medication for a heart condition, was lost in Lija on Saturday. The dog suffers from poor vision, is hard of hearing and needs urgent medical attention. Anyone with information on its whereabouts should call 9949 4275, or 9942 6845. The owners are offering a Lm100 reward.
Music competition
The National Council of Women has announced the 10th edition of the Bice Mizzi Vassallo music competition.
The competition is open to all pianists and string players residing in Malta who must not be older than 26 on December 31, 2005.
The first prize consists of a short summer course at the Lake District Summer Music School in Ambleside, UK, all expenses paid, in August 2005.
The second prize consists of a season ticket for concerts organised by the Manoel Theatre Management Committee during the period October 2005/June 2006.
The third prize consists of a set of books/compact discs.
The winner is chosen by a number of experts. The decision of the judges is final.
All interested persons will be required to present a 10-minute programme consisting of works of their own choice together with the piece/s set down in the regulations.
For further information and application forms one may go to the office of the National Council of Women, Mountbatten Street, Blata l-Bajda on Mondays and Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Closing date is December 31.
Musical performance
The Gozitan Creative Theatre Club under the direction and production of George Mizzi and with the participation of the Broadcasters Band and Edward Mercieca will present the musical A Slice of Saturday Night by the Heather Brothers, in two discotheques in Gozo - the K.U. Club and the XS Discotheque.
The show, which is to be held in aid of The Friends of the Adult Training Centre, will take place on November 6-7 at the K.U. club and the following weekend, November 13-14 at the XS Discotheque, Victoria.
Tickets are available from The Bazaar in Victoria, The Centre AT in Ghajnsielem and Denim Blues in Victoria.

Sta Venera award
The Sta Venera local council is accepting nominations from individuals and clubs for the Sta Venera Award 2004, which is granted to persons, married couples or organisations and clubs that distinguish themselves in the professional or voluntary field among residents of the Sta Venera community.
Nomination forms may be obtained from the local council premises, together with a copy of regulations.
The completed forms must be presented to the council's executive secretary by October 15 .

Feast Of St Joseph
The St Joseph Archconfraternity of Rabat said that the feast of St Joseph, usually falling on March 19, will next year be celebrated on April 17. Approval was granted by the Archbishop's Curia as the traditional date will fall during Holy Week.

The Malta Council for Economic and Social Development has approved its members for a period of one year starting from September 29.

Secretary To The Presidency
Anthony Attard has been appointed secretary to the Presidency with effect from September 25.
Development Control Commission Members
Two new members have been appointed by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority to act as members of the Development Control Commission.
Carmel J. Portelli was appointed in lieu of Conrad Thake in Division A, while Michael Bonnici was appointed in lieu of Chris Borg in Division B.
The two appointments came into effect on August 12.
