Obituary

AQUILINA - CHARLES aged 67, widower of Josephine née Cassar passed away suddenly on August 23 comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sons John and his wife Marianne, Noel, David and his fiancée Katrina, his grandchildren Tara and Ben, his sister, brothers, in-laws, relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital on Thursday at 8 a.m. for Balzan parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated.
Dear Lord grant him eternal rest.

Requiem Masses

Today's 7 p.m. Mass at the Millennium chapel, Paceville, celebrated by Fr Hilary Tagliaferro, will be offered for the repose of the soul of MONICA NELSON née de Piro. The attendance of relatives and friends will be appreciated.

Promotional Lottery

Bank of Valletta is launching a new lottery (DPL 84/04) with attractive prizes for users of the BOV Internet Banking and other 24x7 services.

Subscribers effecting payments through the bill payment facility and third party functionality, together with account holders who choose to receive electronic bank statements, will be automatically eligible to participate in this competition with a chance of winning one of two Philips compact DVD home entertainment systems drawn on a monthly basis. Lottery draws will be held on the 15th of every month between September and December.

One of the aims of the new lottery is the promotion of Bank of Valletta's e-statement facility. This new functionality, which was introduced recently, is a straightforward and secure option that enables BOV 24x7 subscribers to receive their periodic bank statements electronically via Internet Banking rather than through the regular post. Furthermore this option enables customers to receive frequent statement accounts without having to pay any fees.

Children's Club

The last session of the Eden Summer Club for children will include eight full mornings of fully supervised activities as from September 1. Only a few places were available for the session which included an underwater safari, a visit to the Inquisitors' Palace and Armoury, a visit to San Pawl Milqi, IMAX movies, a day of games and a mini-bowling league.

Musical Programme

A musical programme by the Sliema Band will be held tomorrow at 8.30 p.m. at Ghar-id-Dud, Sliema, in collaboration with the Sliema local council, to mark the 10th anniversary of the band's international success in the autonomous region of Valle d'Aosta, Italy.

Crane Operations

The Malta Transport Authority said a crane will be erected in George Borg Olivier Street, Rabat, tomorrow and Monday between 8.30 - 9.30 a.m. and another will be in use in Carmel Street, Fgura on Friday between 8.30 a.m. and noon and between 2 - 4 p.m.

Marian Celebration

The diocesan committee of Our Lady of Fatima will be holding a Eucharistic/Marian celebration, rosary and benediction, on September 4 starting with Holy Mass at 5 p.m. in the Home of the Clergy, Anglu Grima Street, Fleur-de-Lys, Birkirkara. All are welcome.

Music Evening Postponed

An evening of narrative and folk music which was to be held in the Atriju Vassalli at the university today will now be held in conjunction with Folklore Day, in Valletta on September 11. More details will be announced later.

Anglican Service

The Chancellor of St Paul's Anglican Pro-Cathedral, Canon Tom Mendel, will be the celebrant at an Anglican (Church of England) Eucharist service to be held in the chapel of the Sacred Heart Seminary, Enrico Mizzi Street, Victoria tomorrow at 11 a.m.

Acting President

The President and Mrs Fenech Adami yesterday left for a private visit in the United Kingdom. George Hyzler is Acting President in Dr Fenech Adami's absence.

Hompesch City Day

The Zabbar civic council will be marking Hompesch City Day on September 1 in front of Notre Dame Theatre, Zabbar, at 7.30 p.m. Besides the essay competition prize-giving ceremony, the Premju Qalbi F'idi will be presented to a person who committed an extraordinary charitable act in Zabbar in the previous year. The council will also present, for the first time, the Agatha Barbara Trophy.

Rabat Traffic Diversions

Part of George Borg Olivier Street, from College Street up to St Publius Street, Rabat, will be closed to vehicular traffic tomorrow and on Friday between 8.30 - 9.30 a.m. and on Monday between 8.30 a.m. and noon due to construction works.

Traffic diversions will be as follows: Heavy vehicles coming from Saqqajja to be diverted to Saqqajja and Triq Karrijiet; vehicles proceeding south along George Borg Olivier Street to be diverted to College Street; vehicles proceeding north along George Borg Olivier Street to be diverted to St Publius Street.
