Obituary

MANGION. On August 2, at St Luke's Hospital, INES, née Mifsud, aged 88, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughters Emma and her husband Geoffrey Chetcuti, Edith and her husband Saviour Vella, her grandchildren Nathalie and her husband Ian Curtis, Stephanie and Jean Pierre, her brother Paul of Australia, in-laws, other relatives and friends - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for San Gwann parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated.

MICALLEF. On August 2, at St Luke's Hospital, CARMELO, of Siggiewi, aged 75, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his wife Mary Ann, his children Mary and her husband Mario, Emmanuel and his wife Mary, Raymond and his wife Margarite, Grace and her husband Peter, Joseph and his wife Josephine, his grandchildren Monique, Christopher, Noel-Keith, Daniel, Maruska, Maria and Jonathan, others relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Siggiewi parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Siggiewi cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated. Grateful thanks to the staff at M8 St Luke's Hospital. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

RIZZO. On August 2, DANIEL, aged 78, of Senglea, residing in Sliema, passed peacefully away. He leaves to mourn his loss his brothers Peter and his wife Sandra, Harry and his wife Bernice, his respective nephews and nieces, all residing in the UK, his cousins Arthur and Mary Caruana, John Caruana, Joseph and Mona Caruana, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Gregory's parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family vault at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated.

Requiem Masses

A Mass for the repose of MGR A. BONTEMPO will be said today at 5.30p.m. at St Paul's Shipwreck church, Valletta, on the initiative of Moviment Madonna tal-Konsagrazzjoni. All relatives and members are invited to attend.

Band Concert

The Sliema band will be performing at Ghar id-Dud, Sliema, on August 25 at 8.30 p.m. to mark the 10th anniversary of its 1994 international success in Valle d'Aosta, Italy.

Conducted by Ronnie Debatista, it will perform the soundtrack from the film Exodus by Ernest Gold, a selection of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera and the ever-popular Fliergermarsch by Herman Dorstal, among other works.

Maltasong Board

Grace Borg has been confirmed chairman of the Maltasong Board. The other board members are John Bundy, deputy chairman, Martin Gauci, secretary, and Nadette Bugeja, Mike Spiteri, Sergio Carbonaro, John Demanuele, Claire Muscat, Robert Abela and Joe Dalmas, members.

Stars Scorer

Peugeot's newly launched 407 has achieved a five-star score in the latest round of Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) crash tests.

The car achieved five stars for occupant protection and four stars for child protection.

Fit For Bathing

The Public Health Department said that following the necessary cleaning operation for oil pollution carried out in the Bugibba area by the Pollution Control Coordinating Unit, the area is again fit for bathing.

Song Festival

Blood Donations

The Blood Donation Mobile Unit of the National Blood Transfusion Service will be at the following localities during this month: Saturday at Zurrieq football club; Sunday at Kalkara; August 12 at Armier camping site; August 14 at Dingli near the parish church; August 15 at Mgarr near the parish church; August 21 at Siggiewi near the parish church; August 22 at Mgarr near the parish church; and August 28 and 29 at Mellieha near the police station.

Manoel Theatre Management Committee

Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech has confirmed Wilfred Kenely as chairman of the Manoel theatre Management Committee.

The other members on the committee are Salv Stellini, Alfred Buttigieg, Michael Cutugno, Jon Rosser, Chris Mifsud, Maria Ghirlando and Giselle Calleja.

The apointment is effective untul July 16, 2005.

Commemorative Postal Card

Maltapost is issuing a commemorative postal card on the occasion of its participation at the Olymphilex 2004 Exhibition, which is being held between Augsut 13-22 in Greece.

The card will have imprinted stamps of the Olympic Games 2004 postage set and a motif. It will be sold at Lm1.03 and will be available for sale from all branch and sub-post offices.

The special postmark commemorating the Games will also be available at the Valletta counter hall.
