Obituary

BUGEJA. On May 18, LINA née Anastasi, widow of the late Comm. Dr Joseph Bugeja MD, passed peacefully away at the venerable age of 95. She will be lovingly remembered by her children May, widow of Kenneth Lawson, Sr Josephine, Winifred, Vincent, Rita and their respective spouses, grandchildren, relatives and friends. - R.I.P. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital on Friday, May 21, at 3.30 p.m. for Ta' Giezu church, Rabat, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Margherita cemetery, Rabat. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

SPITERI. On May 17, at St Luke's Hospital, JOSEPHINE of Msida, aged 85, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Mikiel (Kilin), her son Victor, husband of Marion, her daughters Maria, wife of Anton, Dora, wife of Butch, Anna, wife of Tonio, Cecelia and Charles, Rosaly, wife of Mario, and Agatha, wife of Lawrence, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 8.30 a.m. for St Joseph parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.45 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Teens For Unity

The Teens for unity, a branch of the Focolare Movement, will be holding the annual spring fair on Sunday at Ghar id-Dud, Sliema, from 4 to 8 p.m. The aim behind the fair is for teenagers to help spread the culture of giving in solidarity with young persons living in countries plagued with war, famine and other problems.

Meeting Postponed

The general meeting of the Akkademja tal-Malti, due to be held next Saturday as announced by Akkademja president Charles Briffa in an article in The Times on Monday, has been postponed, the Akkademja said. A new date for the meeting is yet to be announced.

Band Concerts

The King's Own Philharmonic Society will be hosting a Belgian band to give two concerts in Valletta, the first tomorrow at 7.30 p.m. at the President's Palace courtyard and another in Great Siege Square on Saturday at 10.30 a.m.

Anniversary Mass

Fr. Lawrence Zammit is celebrating thanksgiving Mass to mark the 25th anniversary of his priestly ordination on Saturday at 6 p.m. at St George's parish church, Qormi. A reception will follow at the Holy Family Oratory.
