Obituary
CAMILLERI. On February 17, at his residence in Lija, EDWARD CAMILLERI, BE&A, A&CE, aged 78, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Ninette née Cachia, his children Hector and his wife Mariella, Helga, Hubert and his wife Meco, Louise and her husband William Gatt, and Arthur, his sisters Violet Frendo, widow of Charles, Agnes Cini, widow of Saviour, his sisters-in-law Vivienne Camilleri, widow of John, and Elizabeth Camilleri, widow of Judge Spiridione Camilleri, his seven beloved grandchildren Matthew, Genevieve, Benjie, Max, Rachel, Tiffany and Kyle, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P. A concelebrated Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 2.30 p.m. at Our Saviour parish church, Lija, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to charitable institutions will be appreciated.

Dress Down Day
HSBC will be holding a Dress Down Day on Friday to raise money for a carnival party for about 400 underprivileged children.
The bank's Dress Down Days give employees the opportunity to report to work in casual attire rather than in their normal uniform. All HSBC staff who opt to take part will be asked to donate Lm1 to the HSBC Cares For Children Fund. HSBC also contributes its share through the Lira for Lira scheme, with the bank matching the amount raised by staff during the day.
HSBC Cares For Children Fund has raised more than Lm30,000 for various charities through the event, which on Friday will be the ninth Dress Down Day organised.
Carnival celebrations
For the third consecutive year the General Soft Drinks Co. Ltd, local producers of Coca-Cola products, are sponsoring this year's carnival celebrations.
As in the previous editions, the main highlights of the carnival reach their climax in Valletta's Freedom Square where all the spectacle of dance, music and colour, displayed by the traditional floats, aggregate together during the five days of celebrations. This year there are a record 37 acts.
General Soft Drinks will be giving out a free bottle of Oasis to all the children entering the carnival arena in Freedom Square, Valletta, throughout the carnival weekend.
Millennium chapel event
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is being held in the Millennium Chapel, in Paceville on Friday at 7.30 p.m. for relatives of suicide victims.
Members of the newly formed forevermoms&dads group and the Mental Health Association are invited to attend.
The forevermoms&dads group is a new organisation whose members have lost a child to suicide. Anyone who wishes to join should contact the organisers on maharaja@maltanet.net or through the Millennium chapel.
Cultural heritage awards
The European Union prize for cultural heritage, the Europa Nostra awards 2004, will be awarded in The Hague later this year.
The competition is open to groups and individuals in various categories.
The closing date for applications is September 15.

Interactive session
Former Tourism Minister Michael Refalo today leaves for the Cote d'Azur to chair and moderate the first interactive session of the World Tourism Organisation's workshop on The Contribution of Statistics and Economic Analysis to Effective Destination Management Strategies.
Dr Refalo is also chairman of the WTO's task force on destination management.
Anthony Chircop, Malta's newly-appointed permanent representative to the WTO, is also attending the meeting.
