Obituary
AGIUS. HUGO, on January 4, a few weeks from his 85th birthday, passed peacefully away at St Luke's Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, surrounded by his family. Deeply mourned by his beloved wife Mary, nee Rizzo, his sons Jean and his wife Amanda, Frank (Jon Lukas) and his wife Mary, his grandchildren Mark, Maria, Lily, Ashley, and Rachel (daughter of his late son Ray Agius), his brothers and sisters Eddie, Emilio, Olga, Helvia and Yvonne and their spouses. - R.I.P.The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital for the Carmelite parish church, Balluta at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7 where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be greatly appreciated.
BAJADA. On January 2, Giovanna née Portelli, aged 90, widow of Joseph, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Maria Lourdes, wife of Benjamin Rizzo, her son Joseph and his wife Diane residing in UK, her granddaughters Jeanine, Amanda and Natalie, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence today at 9.15 a.m. for the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 10 a.m., followed by interment. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
BRINCAT. On January 3, at St Luke's Hospital, LOUISE (Giga) née Naudi of Sliema, residing at the Mtarfa Home for the Elderly, aged 87, widow of John, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Joe and his wife Thelma and Bernard and his wife Connie, her grandchildren Elaine, wife of Arthur Pizzuto, Ivan and his wife Romina, Mark and Edward, and her adorable great-grandchildren Matthew and Andrew, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 8.30 a.m. for Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment in the family vault at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Missionary Sisters of Africa, c/o Mgr. F. Mizzi, 15, Old Mint Street, Valletta, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
GONZAGA. On January 3, at the venerable age of 104, FILOMENA, of Sliema, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Josephine and Iris, widow of the late Pat Fantini, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. - R.I.P. A Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 2 p.m. at the Santa Maria Addolorata chapel followed by interment.
MUSCAT INGLOTT. On January 3, Dr GEORGE M.D. passed peacefully away at Holy Family Home, Naxxar at the age of 95. He leaves to mourn his loss his nieces Marlene, Miriam, Amalia, Anna and Elizabeth, his nephews Joe, Albert, Stephen, Adrian, Arthur and Alan, his sister-in-law Josephine Muscat Inglott, other relatives and friends. A Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel tomorrow, Tuesday, January 6, at 10 a.m. followed by interment. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Play Contest Winner
Tony C. Cutajar is the winner of the first competition for playwrights organised by St Elias College, of Sta Venera.
The competition is for plays about Maltese personalities and Mr Cutajar's play was about Censu Brared and focuses on the rising of the Maltese against the French.
The play will be performed during a prize-giving ceremony at the college on Friday.
Copies of regulations for the second edition of the competition may be obtained from the college at 18, Sta Venera Square, Sta Venera (tel. 2148 4121). The closing date is June 30.
The competition is being held with the support of the drama committee of the Akkademja tal-Malti.
