Appreciation - Eric Zammit

Anthony Serracino-Inglott writes:

Pharmacy has today lost a pillar of its profession. Eric Zammit was a symbol of an honest and determined pharmacist. He let nothing come between himself and the development of the profession. The contribution that Eric made, in a sustained, authoritative, objective (and accessible) way, towards the development of pharmacy is immense.

In addition to the local "contributions" Eric was well known for his activities in the Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Association. He travelled extensively spreading the good news in pharmacy to different nations of the Commonwealth.

Although strict in the observation of the rules, laws and regulations, as individuals who knew him well, all of us are surely grateful for his wise counsel, humanity and humour. I, for one, had several rounds of discussions, in different fora but especially in Pharmacy Board meetings to which he contributed with great enthusiasm and vigour.

Our deepest sympathy goes to his family, especially to our colleagues, to his pharmacist wife Pierina and his pharmacist daughter Stephanie.

We understand that his loss is impossible to replace but we are sure that the legacy he left for pharmacy will never be forgotten. The biggest gift that we can give now to Eric is our commitment to pharmacy not only in Malta but also to developing countries.
