Obituary

FARRUGIA. On October 15, at her residence in Zebbug, RINA (Catherine), ex-tourist guide, aged 68, after a long and painful illness borne with Christian fortitude, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her beloved husband David, her sons Dr Godfrey Farrugia, Dr Eric Farrugia and his wife Maria, her daughter Dr Elizabeth Zammit Lupi and her husband Etienne, her grandchildren Kurt, Simon, Matthew, Angelica, Thomas, Julia, Steve and Julian, many relatives and treasured friends who gave her such great support throughout her illness. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves her residence at 107, Main Street, Zebbug, today at 3.15 p.m. for St Philip's parish church, Zebbug, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Zebbug. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

VELLA. On October 15, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, JOSEPH, widower of Stella née Taliana, aged 88, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children George and his wife Louise, Antoinette and her husband Vincent Bonello, Maria and her husband Manuel Rizzo, Rita and her husband Philip Camilleri, his grandchildren Katya, Claudette, Keith, Pierre, Sara, David and Andrea, his brothers and sister, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul today at 2 p.m. for St Gaetan parish church, Hamrun where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at the San Leone Cemetery, Zurrieq.
No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi will be appreciated.
Lord grant him eternal rest.

Funeral

The funeral of MARJA SAMMUT leaves St Luke's Hospital on Saturday, October 18 at 7.45 a.m. for St Julian's parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.15 a.m., followed by interment at Qrendi cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Community Chest Fund will be greatly appreciated.

Requiem Masses

Being the trigesima die of the death of MAURICE PACE DECESARE, a Mass for the repose of his soul will be said today at 6.30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception parish church, Ta' l-Ibrag.

Diners-Out Win Prizes

Pierre Gatt has won an Air Malta ticket in The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants survey.

Joseph Xuereb won two nights in an exclusive Club room at InterContinental Malta, while Lm25 restaurant vouchers were won by Doryne Abela and Martin Bugeja.

Prizes were given to reviewers who returned their surveys with ratings and included the funniest, relevant and most informative comments.

A new edition of the guide incorporating results of the 2004 restaurant survey will be published in November and will include the top rated 150 restaurants out of over 1,000 restaurants on the Maltese Islands.

There was an excellent response to the survey: 700 people rating an average of 20 restaurants each, an equivalent of 70,000 dining experiences.

Anniversary Exhibition

The Ghaqda Filantropika Talent Mosti is holding a joint sculpture and paintings exhibition by sculptor Savio Deguara and artist Mark Debono as part of the activities to mark its 20th anniversary.

The exhibition at the Razzett tal-Markiz, Wied il-Ghasel Street, Mosta is open until October 26 from 6.30 to 9 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays it will also open from 9 a.m. to noon.

The society is holding another meeting for the public in the series of meetings Niltaqghu ma' l-Awtur tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Razzett. The guest will be writer Maria Grech Ganado.

Everyone is invited, entrance is free.

Russian Exhibition

An exhibition by Russian artist Elena Vinogradova is now open at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture, in Valletta until October 23.

The artist is a graduate of the Moscow Academy of Theatre and Arts. She is a member of the Russian Association of Artists and the Unesco International Artists' Federation. She has exhibited her paintings in Moscow, Berlin, Helsinki, Mozambique and Tanzania.

Internet Discussion

On the occasion of the European Day of Civil Justice, which the European Commission and the Council of Europe are organising on October 25, the Director-General for Justice and Home Affairs, Jonathan Faull will be taking part in a discussion forum on the internet.

This will be held on October 23 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Trip Time Change

The Malta Transport Authority said that as from last Monday to next January 4 the last trip on route 45 from Cirkewwa to Valletta is operating at 7.50 p.m. instead of 8.05 p.m.

The change was made to accommodate commuters travelling to Gozo following the recent changes in the operational times of the Gozo Ferry.

TV Productions Course

The Institute of Videography Malta will hold a comprehensive course on television productions.

The course deals with lighting, audio, video recording, lenses, cameras and camera work, script writing guidelines, graphics, editing, legal issues and other subjects.

The course starts on November 3. Successful participants will be awarded certificates for completed modules.

Lectures will be held on Mondays between November and June at the parish centre in St Joseph High Road, Sta Venera, from 6.30 to 9 p.m.

Location filming and visits will be carried out on Mondays between June and September.

A special meeting for prospective participants is being held at the parish centre on Monday at 6.30 p.m.

Blood Donations

The mobile blood donation unit will be stationed near the Clock Tower in Mtarfa on Sunday from 8.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Donors should present their ID cards.

Uncollected Certificates

A number of certificates in respect of the City & Guilds December 2002 examination have not yet been collected. These will be sent by ordinary post if they are not collected within a month.

The examinations department said it would not assume responsibility if the certificates were lost or damaged in the process.

E-Customs

The EU Help Desk and the Euro-Info Centre at Malta Enterprise, in conjunction with the Department of Customs, are organising an information meeting dealing with "The New E-Customs System and Tariff Quotas" at the Trade Centre, in San Gwann on Monday at 2.30 p.m.
