BUTTIGIEG - MARY née Caruana Demajo, 12.5.2001. Dearest mamà, two years have passed since our last goodbye but still you live in my heart. I miss you terribly, your dear face, your kind words of wisdom and understanding. Thank you for being such a wonderful mother, ever present in the hour of need. VELLA - POLYCARPE RENE. In loving memory of a dear husband, father and nannu on the second anniversary of his demise. Fondly remembered by his wife Iris, children Michael and Monica, Evelyn and Charles, and grandson Ian. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Poetry Evening

The Maltese Poets Association is to hold a poetry evening in collaboration with Kirkop local council on May 27 between 7.30 and 9 p.m. at the primary school San Benedittu. The activity will be followed by a reception offered by the council. Everyone is invited and can read his verse in any language.

Competition Winner

Carmen Li Destri is one of the winners of the McDonald's McChicken Premiere trayliner competition in collaboration with KD Travel.

Customers were able to participate in this draw by answering the question - "Which film, premiered in 1939, was on the trayliners in all eight restaurants in Malta and Gozo?"

The answer was "Gone with the wind". The prize flight and accommodation are courtesy of KD Travel.

Shark Seen

The Civil Protection Department said yesterday it had received unconfirmed reports of a shark being sighted off Dwejra in Gozo. It recommended caution.

Biblical Archaeology Lecture

The second lecture on biblical archaeology being given by Michelle Buhagiar will be held at Sullivan and Sullivan, 150, Sta Lucija Street, Valletta on May 22 at 6.30 p.m. and not on Thursday as advertised earlier by the organisers.

The lecture will deal with "Yahwehism" .

Bargain Book Fair

The Salesians of Don Bosco in St Patrick's School, Sliema, are organising a Bargain Book Fair of new, old and second-hand books, to raise money to be able to continue in their service to young people in need.

Any old and used books can be given to the Salesians, who can be contacted on tel. 2133 7572 or 7949 2555.

Twinning Arrangement

A twinning arrangement has been set up between the Adult Training Centre in Gozo and Enable Housing Association, based in Derbyshire, UK.

The project is called Edge - Enable Derbyshire Gozo Exchange. A joint bid for European funding, based on the ongoing twinning relationships, is being finalised.

Play Put Off

Curtain Raiser Theatre Troupe and Skene Theatre Group said their performance of the play Il-Mizien fetah Ghajnejh, due on May 31 and June 1 at Luqa, has been put off to October 4 and 5 in solidarity with Luqa parish priest Fr Joe Camilleri, who was injured in an accident on May 2.
