Obituary

DELICATA. On January 12, at the Holy Family Home, Naxxar, DOLORES, known as Doris, aged 78, widow of Joseph, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn his loss her children Dr Charles Delicata and his wife Alda, John, Doreen and her husband Alfred, Maria and her husband Colin, Vincent and his wife Janet, her brother and sister, her nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves the Holy Family Home tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Balzan parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Holy Family Home, Marquis Scicluna Street, Naxxar, will be appreciated.

SPITERI. On January 12, at St Luke's Hospital, JOSEPH, aged 74, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Doris, nèe Busuttil, his children Sandro and his wife Cristina, Sarah, his dear grandchildren Mark and Matthew, his sisters Margaret, Nena, widow of Nenu Borg, Rose and her husband Gaetano Borg, Vicky and her husband Salvu Bajada, Matilde, widow of his brother Michael, Toni Mercieca, widower of his sister Mary, his in-laws Lilian, George, Carmelo and his wife Joan, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends - R.I.P.
Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at the old parish church of Sta Venera at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to the Malta Hospice Movement will be greatly appreciated.

Costume contest

The Carnival Committee for Persons with Disability will be holding a costume competition for children during Carnival.

Forms can be collected from the National Folklore Commission, Room 109, Department of Education, Floriana, during office hours. The closing date is February 14.

The competitors will be judged during an activity at the Freedom Square enclosure Valletta on March 2.

Devotional Wednesdays

The Seven Devotional Wednesdays dedicated to St Joseph will be held by the Archconfraternity of St Joseph of Rabat from January 22 at St Joseph of Mary of Jesus's Franciscan church, in Rabat in preparation for the feast of St Joseph to be celebrated on March 19.

The Wednesdays will be January 22, 29, February 5, 12, 19 and 26 and March 12.

There will be Mass with homily on St Joseph at 6 p.m. followed by a Eucharistic celebration.

Poets Association

The Maltese Poets Association will be holding its general meeting at Sala Guzeppi Despott, Ministry of Education, Floriana on Friday at 5.30 p.m. The agenda includes the election of a new committee for the years 2003-2005. All members should attend.

Accountant's dictionary

The Dizzjunarju tal-Kontabilitá (Ingliz/Malti) by George Cassola, just published, is a collection of technical terms and other vocabulary in use in accounting and business practice.

The dictionary starts with the basic function of giving the Maltese equivalent for the English term but goes beyond by giving examples which show how those terms can be used.

The book was published by Malta University Press and is available in both paperback and hardback editions.
