Obituary
BORG. On December 18, at St Luke's Hospital, CARMENA (Nena) of Gzira, widow of Toni, aged 75, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Lina and her husband James, Louis and his wife Maria, Josephine and her husband Tony, Lucia and her husband Saviour, Mario and his wife Antida and Noel and his wife Lorraine, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sisters Maria, Tereza and Veronica, their respective husbands, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Gzira, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be greatly appreciated.
DEGIORGIO. On December 19, at St Luke's Hospital, MAURICE, (former assistant commissioner at the Inland Revenue Department), aged 57, of Fgura, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Marlene née Vella, his children Daniela, Vanessa and Ryan, his brother Edwin and his wife Sylvia, his sisters Winnie and her husband Anthony, Vivian and her husband Lino, Eileen and her husband Walter, nephews, nieces, his mother-in-law Mary Vella, other relatives and friends, especially the brothers and sisters of the Maria Omm Alla prayer group. - R.I.P.

DELIA. On December 19, at St Vincent de Paul Hospital, EMANUEL of Hamrun, aged 93, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Jane, his 12 children Joe, Andrew, Mary, Kolina, Hilda, Willie, Elisio, Effie, Oscar, Carmen and Ann, their spouses, grandchildren, his sister Sr Raffina of the Franciscan Sisters, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence today at 7.45 a.m. for the Immaculate Conception parish church, Hamrun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.15 a.m., followed by interment at Siggiewi cemetery. Gozo Bishop's Programme
Gozo Bishop Nikol Cauchi's programme for the Christmas period is as follows:
On Tuesday, Christmas Eve, Mgr Cauchi will lead a ceremony at the cathedral in Victoria at 5.30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Christmas Day, the bishop will lead the Midnight Mass at the cathedral. Later in the morning, at 9 a.m., he will lead another Mass at the cathedral which will be broadcast on RTK followed by another Mass at St George's Basilica in Victoria at 11 a.m.
On December 31, Mgr Cauchi will lead a solemn concelebration at the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul as well as Mass at St George's Basilica at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m respectively.
On January 1, the bishop will lead a Mass at the cathedral at 8.45 a.m. and Mass at the Basilica of St George the Martyr at 11 a.m.
On January 4, Mgr Cauchi celebrates the epiphany at the cathedral at 5.30 p.m.
On January 5, the bishop will lead a concelebrated Mass at the cathedral at 8.45 a.m.

Mass with Christmas carols in German will be celebrated at St Barbara's Church, Valletta, on Christmas Eve at 6 p.m.
MTA Training Programmes
The Malta Tourism Authority is to produce another two editions of the training programme Malta, Int u t-Turist in January and February 2003.
The 40-hour programme is conducted by Malta University Services on behalf of the MTA and is aimed at front-liners in the tourism industry.
The aim of the programme is to enable personnel working in the tourism industry to be better informed about the various aspects of the tourism product, including the economic, social, geographical, cultural and environmental aspects. The programme also includes training in customer relations.
The programme consists of 14 weekly sessions held at the University of Malta. It also incorporates field trips.
The January sessions will be conducted in English.

The commercial banks will be closed for business on Thursday, December 26, and Thursday, January 2, bank holidays, the Malta Bankers' Association said. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, the commercial banks will be open as follows: APS Bank 8.30 a.m. to 12.45 p.m.; Bank of Valletta 8.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; HSBC Bank 8.30 a.m. to 12.45 p.m.; Lombard Bank 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Volksbank closed Christmas Eve, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. New Year's Eve.
APS Bank and HSBC Bank will be providing an afternoon banking service on Monday, December 23, and Monday, December 30, from 2.30 to 4 p.m.
