Obituary

BARTOLI. On September 18, at Pax et Bonum, GUZEPPA of Rabat, widow of Emanuel, aged 85, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Louis and his wife Cecilia, Marlene, Freny and her husband Joseph Portelli and Tonio and his wife Carmen, her grandchildren and great-grandchild, brother and sisters, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Dominic's church, Rabat, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Margherita Cemetery, Rabat. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated.

BORG. On September 17, at St Luke's Hospital, VINCENT of Birkirkara, aged 85, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Helen, his children Carmelo and his wife Tessie, Sr Mary of the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus, Joe (ex-cashier, Law Courts) and his wife Doris, Connie and her husband Emanuel, Luckie and her husband Paul, Pauline and her husband Charlie, Twanny and his wife Miriam, his sisters Carmela, Julia, Agnes, Helen and her husband Carmel, Theresa and her husband Reno, his brother Joseph and his wife Spiridiona, grandchildren, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.

Eroticism In Maltese Literature

The September 30 edition of Poezijaplus will be dedicated to eroticism in Maltese literature. The group will try to understand how far Maltese literature goes on this theme. Other related issues are expected to be discussed, such as the line which separates erotic literature from pornography.

Poezijaplus organises a literary meeting on the last Monday of each month. The meetings are held at Cafè Diva, the Manoel Theatre, Valletta.

Anniversary Concert

The 12th May Band and Social Club of Zebbug is presenting a symphonic concert in the Sir Temi Zammit Hall of the University of Malta on October 5 at 7.30 p.m.

The concert marks the 175th anniversary of the death of composer Ludwig van Beethoven, and will be directed by Mro Hermann Farrugia. The programme includes Beethoven's 5th Symphony.

Tickets are available free of charge from the band club in Zebbug, from the Euro Institute of Music and Arts in Hamrun and from the La Valette Band Club, Valletta.

Fund-Raising Dinner

The Lions Club and Razzett tal-Hbiberija are organising a fund-raising dinner of over 10 types of traditional Maltese food. Wine and coffee are included in the Lm7.50 price.

The event will take place at the Razzett in Marsascala on September 27 at 8 p.m.

The aim is to raise money for the new Multi-Sensory Project which will cost over Lm100,000.

Booking must be made by September 25. Tables are for eight or 10 persons.

Arabic Courses

The Malta Branch of the World Islamic Call Society is organising Arabic courses at beginner and advanced levels at the Islamic Cultural Centre in Paola, starting on September 30.

The courses are free, and lessons will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 6 to 7.30 p.m. until June 30.

Anniversary Mass

The Archbishop, Mgr Joseph Mercieca will be celebrating Mass in the sanctuary of St Theresa, Birkirkara tomorrow at 6.30 p.m. to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Immaculate Conception School and the arrival of the Sisters of Charity, in Tarxien.

Ensemble Concert

The East West Chamber Ensemble is giving a concert in Lija parish church on October 3, as part of its programme to mark the 12th anniversary of German unity.

The ensemble is also performing at the Manoel Theatre on October 1.

Vocal Concert

The youth section of the Sliema Philharmonic Society is performing a vocal and musical concert under the direction of Mro Sigmund Mifsud, in the theatre of the Sliema Banda Cittadina in Sliema, on October 4 at 7.30 p.m.
