Marriages

Dr ANTHONY CACHIA, NP, LL.D. and Miss MARIA ANDREEVA, LT The marriage took place on September 21 at Castello dei Baroni, Wardija, between ANTHONY, son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Cachia of Ta' l-Ibrag, and MARIA, daughter of Mr and Mrs Alexander Andreeva of Stavropol, Russia. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr Peter Sullivan and Miss Denise Tonna. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Joseph Grech. The bride was attended by her sister, Ms Evgeniya Andreeva. Master Eric Sullivan was ring bearer, while Ms Jeanine Tonna was flower-girl. Mr Jonathan Tonna was usher. The couple spent their honeymoon in Croatia.

Mr OMAR DIMECH, B.Sc. (Hons.) Computing Greenwich and Ms NICHOLA MICALLEF ANASTASI, Dip. Cll The marriage took place on October 2, at Ta' Mlit chapel, Mosta, between OMAR, son of Mr and Mrs F. Dimech of Naxxar, and NICHOLA, daughter of Mr and Mrs R.A. Micallef of Ta' L-Ibrag. Fr Gerald Micallef officiated. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr Duncan Dimech and Mr Darren Micallef. The duties of best man were carried out by Marco Vassallo. Rebekah Micallef Anastasi was maid of honour. Rachel Micallef Anastasi and Martha Micallef were bridesmaids. Emily Therese Salnitro was flower-girl. Conrad Dimech, Joseph F. Micallef and Michael Salnitro acted as ushers. A reception was later held at The Palms, St Julian's. The couple are spending their honeymoon in the United States.

Mr SIMON MONTANARO and Miss ANGELA FABRI The marriage took place on October 15 at the Capuchin church, Floriana, between SIMON, son of Brigadier and Mrs Rupert Montanaro of Sliema, and ANGELA, daughter of Mr and Mrs Alfred Fabri of Msida. Fr Claude Portelli celebrated nuptial Mass. The ceremony was witnessed by Dr Simon Fabri and Dr Paul Farrugia. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Mark Sultana. The bride was attended by Miss Daniela Grech. Miss Martina Naudi and Miss Ella Stivala were flower-girls, while Mr Miguel Muscat was pageboy. Mr Alan Arrigo, Mr Andrew Arrigo, Mr Jack Fenech and Mr Philip Lanfranco acted as ushers. A reception was later held at the San Gorg Corinthia Hotel, St Julian's.

GOLDEN WEDDING

Mr JOSEPH VENTURI and Miss DORIS BARON The marriage between JOSEPH and DORIS took place on October 16, 1955, at St Julian's chapel, Senglea. The late Fr Anton Azzopardi officiated at the wedding ceremony. Congratulations and best wishes, mum and dad. Thank you for all you have done for us throughout the years. Obituary

MAGRI. On October 14, at St Luke's Hospital, VICTOR of Madliena, went to the Risen Lord, aged 81, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Anne née Cole, his daughter Davida and her husband Paul Cardona, his grandchildren Paul David and his wife Eleanor, Anna Marie, his great-grandchildren David and Hannah, his sisters Carmelina Cole, Josephine and her husband Carmel Conti, his in-laws, Doris, wife of John Cole, Marie, wife of Joe Cole, Godfrey and Kerrie Cole, Walter and Kristina Cole, Gontran and Mary Borg, nephews, nieces, other relatives and his many friends. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow at 8.15 a.m. for Ta' l-Ibrag parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MAMO. On October 14, at St Luke's Hospital, MARGARET née Vella Briffa of Valletta, ex-manager, Mid-Med Bank, aged 54, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joseph, ex-head, Madre Teresa College, Msida and Guzè Bonnici Primary School, Sliema, her daughter Francesca, her mother Carmelina, her brothers Dr Joseph Vella Briffa and his wife Mary, Alfred and his wife Doris, Frankie and his wife Eileen, Victor and his wife Polly, Dr Dino Vella Briffa and his wife Nadette, nephews and nieces, in-laws, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

Requiem Masses

Today's 6 p.m. Mass at St Cajetan parish church, Hamrun, will be offered for the repose of the soul of Dun KARM PORTELLI. Ex-Lega members who spent their juvenile days with him from the 60s to the 80s are organising this Mass.

A grey Next haversack containing personal items was stolen on Tuesday from a car parked in the Kappara area. Among the items stolen is a ring which belonged to a family member who has passed away and is therefore of great sentimental value to us.
