Obituary

AGIUS - MARIA STELLA née Saliba, widow of Salvu, passed peacefully away at her residence in St Julians, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Lina, Fr Tony, Mary Anne, Sr Mariella, Yvonne and her husband Joe Young, Isabella and her husband Joe Borg, Joseph and his wife Angelika, Lydia and her husband Albert Caruana and Bridget and her husband Alphonse Galdes, her sister and life-companion Rita, her grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for St Julians parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.15 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated. "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me shall never die". (John 11:25).

SCHEMBRI. On September 29, DORIS née Vincenti, of Sliema but residing in St Venera, aged 61, passed away at St Luke's Hospital comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Karl and Katia, her sister Mary and her husband John Zerafa, family and friends. - R.I.P. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow at 10 a.m. for St Francis of Assisi church, in Hamrun where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 10.15 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetry. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza will be greatly appreciated.

Architectural films

The film Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision (1995) will be screened at St James Cavalier, Valletta today at 6.45 p.m. as part of a programme of activities, entitled Time for Architecture, by the Chamber of Architects and the Society of Architecture and Civil Engineering students.

The production explores the work of the sculptor and architect Maya Lin, who designed the Vietnam War memorial at the age of 21. It will be followed by My Architect: A Son's Journey (2003) at 9 p.m.; a son's painstaking search for a way to understand Louis Khan both as a father and as an architect.

Ivan Leonidov: The Architect (2003) will be screened tomorrow at 6.45 p.m. This is a feature-documentary about one of the leading visionary architects of the Russian Constructivist period in the 1920s. It will be followed by First Person Singular: I.M. Pei (1998) at 9 p.m., in which architect I.M. Pei reveals his life's experiences granting the viewer unfettered access into his philosophical mind.
