Obituary

CASTLES. On September 5, at St Luke's Hospital, IRENE, after an illness so bravely borne, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her beloved husband Joseph, her children Eleonora, Emma, Elizabeth and her husband Roger, Elaine and her husband Philip, Edward and his wife Lisa, her grandchildren James, Robert, Ben, Helen, Francesca, George, Emma, Thomas and Adam, her brothers and sister and their families, and her friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by burial at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family gratefully acknowledge all the help, kindness and attention shown by the staff of St Luke's Hospital. Donations to the Renal Unit at St Luke's Hospital will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Maria and Cettina, Maria Assunta widow of her brother Joseph and Angele widow of her brother Paul, her nephews and nieces Dr Aldo Vella, Nadia wife of Alex Anastasi, Sandra and Bernard, Lynette widow of Dr Angelo Vella, her sisters-in-law Maria Brunone and Alice Castagna, grand-nephews and grand-nieces, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.

DEMICOLI. On September 5, PAULINE, née Gatt, widow of Joseph, aged 84, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sons Magistrate Saviour Demicoli and his wife Bernardette and Charles and his wife Daniela, her grandchildren, her brother Anthony of Canada and Josepa, and her sisters Geswarda and Tessie, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 1.45 p.m. for Our Lady of Fatima church, Guardamangia, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment at Mosta cemetery. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

ELLUL. On September 4, after a short illness, JOSEPH of Vittoriosa, aged 64, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Maria, his daughter Joann and her husband Roger Bugeja, his son Robert and his fiancée Graziella Zammit, his sister Margaret, his brothers Antoine and his wife Doris, Vincent and his wife Mary, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves Sir Paul Boffa Hospital today at 7.15 a.m. for St Mary's parish church, Mosta, where his cousin, Fr Joseph Bonnici, prior of Porto Salvo, will celebrate Mass praesente cadavere at 7.45 a.m., followed by interment at St Lawrence Cemetery, Vittoriosa. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated.

MICALLEF. With deepest regret we announce the passing away of our beloved mother Beatrice, née Attard, widow of Emmanuel (ex-Leader of the C. in C.'s Orchestra). She passed peacefully away on September 5 at home at the age of 88. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Pauline, her husband George Valentino and grandchildren Daniela and Sandro; her son Arthur, his wife Linda and grandson Peter; her daughter Lydia, grandson Fernando and girlfriend Elaine, her sister Raffaela Vella and her brother Paul Attard, relatives and friends.
Mass praesente cadavere will be said today, September 6, at 2.30 p.m. at Gzira parish church, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord grant her eternal rest.

SAMMUT. On September 4, PHILIP, aged 67, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Gladys, his daughter Odette and her husband Tonio Attard, his grandchildren Giuseppe and Giorgia, his brother Joe and his wife Marie, his sister Mary, his nephew Edward and his wife Roberta and other relatives in Gozo and Malta. - R.I.P.

Leicester Graduates

The European Institute of Education (EIE) has announced the recent graduation of 11 of its students who were awarded Masters degrees from the University of Leicester, during a graduation ceremony held in Leicester, UK.

Claude Portanier Mifsud graduated Master of Business Administration with Distinction, one of the very few to have obtained a distinction among more than 800 MBA Leicester graduates worldwide.

Michael Schembri, Karen Bonello, Stefan Theuma, Jason Bongailas, Karl Herrera and Mario Cutajar (in absentia) graduated Master of Business Administration.

Aidan Massa, graduated Master of Business Administration (Finance).

Mark Borg Mangion (in absentia) graduated Master of Business Administration (Information Technology Management).

Rudolph Gatt graduated MSc Finance.

Duncan Borg Ellul graduated MSc Security and Risk Management.

The students were presented with their degree certificates by Sir Michael Atiyah, Chancellor of the University of Leicester, during the graduation ceremony held at the De Montfort Hall in Leicester.

The European Institute of Education is licensed by the Ministry of Education as a tertiary level institution of the European University Switzerland external programmes and is currently recruiting students for both the EU MBA and the Leicester MBA. Students' Distinction

Three students recently obtained a distinction in their Cambridge International College examinations.

Alison Zammit Moore, Cornelia Elisabeth Camilleri and Josephine Vella followed a diploma course in tourism and travel agency management organised by Future Focus, the local affiliate for Cambridge International college in Malta.

Future Focus runs courses in a number of subjects including hotel management, business management, office management, sales and marketing, communications, professional English and child care.

First Aid Courses

A First Aid course in English at the St John Ambulance headquarters in Valletta will start on September 27 at 6.30 p.m. and will run twice a week every Tuesday and Thursday.

Courses in Maltese will start on September 26 at 6.30 p.m. running twice a week every Monday and Wednesday and on September 27 at 9.30 a.m. running every Tuesday and Thursday. A course consists of nine lectures, lasting approximately two hours each. The fee is Lm10, which includes a workbook, training material and certification.

St John Ambulance first aid courses are recognised locally by government regulations under the Occupational Health And Safety Legal Notices and also by EU regulations.

Fourteen children together with medical staff and volunteers from the Ghaqda Trasport tal-Morda f'Lourdes (GTML) recently visited Lourdes supported by the HSBC Cares For Children Fund. Over the past six years the fund has donated nearly Lm20,000 in order to help sick children visit the sanctuary.
