Appreciation - David Cluett

Karla Cachia writes:

David Cluett will not only be remembered as one of Malta's greatest goalkeepers, but a father and a friend to be admired, a gentleman who was always ready to listen to others.

Your passing away has taught me never to take anybody for granted. I will never forget those precious times Mandy, you and I spent sipping tea in the kitchen chatting away till the early hours of the morning.

The commitment between you two should be taken as an example by many couples. You guys rose above all the problems together, but your feelings for each other never changed, not for one day. The more your relationship was put to the test, the stronger your bond became.

David, I feel privileged that you trusted me to look after your kids and Mandy. You never made it back home, so I guess they will be in my life for much longer than I expected. They will never be alone, even if I cannot be around. You know very well that Julian and Anna, Terence and Denise and Julien will take care of them as you have witnessed in the last 10 years of your life.

I am sure that you're watching over all of us at the moment. I can just picture you sitting on some cloud making friends and having an intense conversation with someone. I envy whoever it may be. If only we could just have one last cup of tea together, but it was not meant to be. It is now time to spend with your mum, you deserve it.

Goodbye "Cluett" as I always referred to you, we will miss you.
