Social development workshop

The Malta Council for Economic and Social Development and the Istituto per il Mediterraneo are holding a two-day sub-regional workshop on Social Development and Social Systems on Monday and Tuesday.

The workshop forms part of the Project Social Dialogue and Social Systems, financed by the European Commission in the framework of the MEDA programme and promoted by the European Economic and Social Committee and the Euro-Mediterranean Economic and Social Councils.

The project's goal is to reach a consensus between social partners and governments about some elements of principle and analysis concerning the evolution of social systems within the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership and to attempt to draw nearer social legislation and to make communication possible among systems of industrial relations.

In the long term, the project aims at contributing to the evolution of the social systems, by means of a research-action involving the 12 Mediterranean partner countries.
