The University is organising two social gatherings this week for alumni who graduated between 1930 and 1977, in preparation for the launching of the University of Malta Alumni Association. The gathering for alumni from 1930 to 1970 will take place on Thursday, and another gathering for alumni from 1971 to 1977 takes place on Friday. Both events will be held at the MITP Theatre, Old University Building, Valletta, at 7.30 p.m. Entrance is from the courtyard in St Paul Street. All alumni are welcome to bring a guest. Those attending are kindly requested to inform the University's Communications and Alumni Relations Office. A full list of University graduates from 1916 to 1977 is available on the alumni website www.um.edu.mt/alumni. All alumni are invited to forward their details to be entered in the alumni database by accessing the online form or by contacting Daphne Kelleher tel: 2340 2142 or Angela Xuereb on 2340 2163. Photo shows the 1937 group of graduates, which included among others, Guzè Aquilina, Edward Coleiro, Joanna Bonaci (Degiorgio), who was the first female lawyer to graduate from the University, Marcelle Galanopoulo (Zammit Tabona), one of Malta's first female doctors, and Michele Tufigno.
